Currently the majority of our placements are in the U.S. We offer seasonal employment for skilled and unskilled workers on an H2B work Visa; the Summer Work/Travel and Training/Intern Program for college students on the J1 Visa. We also place candidates in United Kingdom and Canada.

What are the requirements for the H2B Visa? <<BACK

You qualify for an H-2B visa if you are going to the United States to accept a temporary or seasonal non-agricultural job from an U.S. employer. You may apply if you have the correct background, skills or natural abilities needed by the employer. H-2B visas are targeted at skilled and unskilled workers. http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/visa_h2b.html

You meet the criteria for a J-1 exchange visitor visa if you are going to the United States as a student, scholar, trainee, teacher, professor, research assistant, medical graduate or international visitor who is participating in a program of studies, training research or cultural enrichment specifically designed for such individuals by the United States Department of State, through its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/visa_j1.html

What is a "Cap"? <<BACK

The word "Cap" refers to annual numerical limitations set by Congress on the numbers of workers authorized to be admitted on different types of visas or authorized to change status if already in the United States. For FY 2006, the total annual numerical limit or cap is 66,000 - 33,000 for the Summer and 33,000 for the Winter Season. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/services/tempbenefits/cap.htm

The age limit is generally 18-45, for the H2B Visa program and 18-30 for the J1 Program.

When should you register for the U.S. H2B Work Program? <<BACK

Due to the length of time it takes to process the H2B visa, we would suggest applying seven months in advance of the approximate work date arranged by the Employers. The J1 Visa takes less time to process.

What is EJAM's cost for getting me a job under the H2B Visa? <<BACK

For the H2B Program - We do not charge any placement fees - In January 2009, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the US Department of Labor (DOL) released new rules governing the H-2B program. One of the major changes initiated is the inability for any recruiter, agent, attorney, or employer to charge an H2B worker a placement fee.

Is it definite that I will be granted a Visa? <<BACK

The H-2B is subject to INS and consulate approval, this is not a guaranteed visa.

Am I able to work a second job? <<BACK

No. The employer you will be working for is stamped on your visa documentation and therefore it is illegal to work for another employer.

Do I have to find my own housing? <<BACK

We arrange with employers to provide affordable housing, in close proximity to the job site.

What is an H-2A and H-2B visa? <<BACK

These are visas issued to non-immigrant workers allowing them to be employed in the United States for a period of less than 11 months. The H-2A visa is issued to temporary agriculture workers. The H-2B visa is issued to temporary non-agricultural workers such as housekeepers, food servers, kitchen helpers, landscapers, construction workers, etc.

What steps are involved in applying for an H2B Petition? <<BACK

Step 1: An application must be filed with the state labor office. The application must include proof that the employer's need for workers is temporary.
Step 2: A labor certification must be obtained from the Regional Department of Labor stating that no U.S. workers are available to the employer. This step requires advertising in the local area newspaper.
Step 3: A petition with the labor certification attached is filed with the USCIS.
Step 4: The USCIS issues the Petition Approval and notifies the appropriate U.S. Consulate.

Once I am assigned an overseas job, can I go ahead and make plans to travel? <<BACK

Job offers are made prior to the completion of the visa approval process. A job offer does not guarantee visa approval; we highly recommend that you do not make travel arrangements, quit your job, and sell your car, etc. until you receive final approval.
